Wild Salmon

Website/URL: http://wildernesscommittee.org/what_we_do/preserving_the_pacific_coast/wild_salmon

Summary: Nets and open-net cage salmon farming are hurting the salmon. This is also causing over fishing of the salmon. Habitats are being destroyed and over 100 stocks of salmon and 700 are at risk in British Columbia. “The Wilderness Committee is making sure the protection of the wild salmon’s habitat and protecting wild salmon from the effects of salmon farming.” They are trying to stop the use of open net cage salmon farming. They address different issues such as parasitic sea lice and disease that kills juvenile wild salmon that migrate past farms on their way out to sea. In the article are also states.”The raw sewage, toxic chemicals, pesticides and drugs also emanate from salmon farms polluting marine life and also your dinner plate”. It’s better to stop these over fishing and toxic states to stop hurting the fish.
Opinion: In my opinion, people are doing too much over fishing, weather it’s by their own nets, rods, hook and salmon farms itself. People usually just think about themselves and not the animals or their habitats. They don’t realize it that if they don’t stop doing what their doing they won’t have any salmon left to catch which well cut down on jobs and leisure activites.
